First up, Tim de Groot from Hedge has released a little personal project - introducing TV Knight.
Next up... Bye-bye FCPBridge, hello, SpliceKit! 🥳
With input from the FCP Cafe community, the application has been renamed, and the installation process has been dramatically simplified and made much more consumer-friendly.
A new icon is currently being designed by the incredible Matthew Skiles - and should be done at some point in the next week or so.
SpliceKit v3.0.0 contains the following changes:
- New name: FCPBridge is now SpliceKit
- Wizard UI: 3-panel setup wizard (Welcome, Patching, Status) with separate log window
- Xcode project: Proper build system replaces raw
swiftccompilation - DMG distribution: Professional macOS disk image with Applications shortcut
- "Enhancements" menu: Final Cut Pro menu bar item renamed from product name to feature-oriented label
- Portable paths: All hardcoded user-specific paths removed — tools are found via standard locations (
~/Applications/SpliceKit/tools/) - New app icon
SpliceKit v3.0.1 contains the following changes:
- Fix Sparkle showing false update when already on latest version (
CFBundleVersionmismatch) - Bundle pre-built parakeet-transcriber in the DMG — transcription works out of the box without Xcode CLT
- Improved Parakeet error messages with specific guidance for common failures (short clips, missing media, network issues, disk space, permissions, Apple Silicon requirement)
- Skip clips shorter than 0.5s instead of sending them to Parakeet and failing
- Deploy tools (parakeet, silence-detector) to ~/Applications/SpliceKit/tools/ during make deploy
- Detailed logging of search paths and file status for easier debugging
If you look on the SpliceKit GitHub repository there's already a lot of new stuff not yet released, so definitely exciting times ahead!
You can now easily install the Enhancements into Final Cut Pro with a couple of clicks.
SpliceKit is SUPER interesting and exciting, as it opens up basically unlimited possibilities with Final Cut Pro, but it also gives developers a much better insight into the inner workings of Final Cut Pro, allowing developers to build even better Workflow Extensions and FxPlug Filters.
OnderK Studio v1.0.1 is out now.
You can download and learn more on the OnderK Studio website.
